Gorgeous & Green Benefit for Global Green
The 4th Annual San Francisco benefit party for Global Green had it all - celebrity, politics, announcements, and a fashion show. Actress Kate Bosworth provided the hollywood glamour. In case you are curious about these things, she was wearing a "philip lim spring '09 black ole zipper dress, created with an all-natural fiber blend of 60% hemp and 40% silk. For minimum environmental impact, the fabric was hand-dyed with eco-friendly coloring and the zippers were recycled from surplus remnants, thus reducing wastage and the overall footprint." Mayor Newsom represented the local political scene. More than 20 designers provided the eco fashion show.
Global Green, the American branch of the Green Cross, also released their Global Solar Report Card at the event. Germany gets an A-, Russia gets an F, the USA gets a C+, and California receives a B, mostly for our regulatory structure and solar incentives.

Global Green USA celebrated their 4th Annual San Francisco Benefit Party on Tuesday, December 2nd, 2008. Held at San Francisco¹s LEED certified Bently Reserve, the event focused on green solutions that can help address the world¹s economic, energy and environmental crises. Proceeds from the evening benefited Global Green¹s initiatives nationally and in the Bay Area including its groundbreaking work to rebuild New Orleans green, to create green affordable housing that dramatically reduces high energy bills for low-income families and to create healthy green schools.

The event, entitled "Gorgeous and Green," was co-chaired by Zem Joaquin, Matt Petersen and Nadine Weil. The event included a VIP dinner and exclusive performance by American Idol finalist Elliot Yamin, as well as a presentation by climate expert and Global Green Advisory Board member Dr. Stephen Schneider.

Global Green USA, the American affiliate of President Gorbachev's Green Cross International, was founded in 1993.
